A comprehensive market research report published this week projects that the global theme park market will grow from $54.3 billion in 2024 to $89.6 billion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.8%. The growth is driven by increasing disposable income in emerging economies, tourism infrastructure investment by governments, and continuous innovation in ride technology.

The Asia-Pacific region is expected to see the fastest growth, accounting for 42% of new theme park developments worldwide. China, India, and Southeast Asian nations are leading the expansion, with over 60 new large-scale theme parks currently in planning or construction phases. The Middle East is also a significant growth market, with several mega-projects under development.

Roller coasters remain the highest-revenue attraction category, generating an estimated $12 billion in direct and indirect revenue globally. Ferris wheels and observation rides are the fastest-growing segment, with demand driven by urban tourism projects and scenic destination development. The report notes that municipalities increasingly view large Ferris wheels as city landmarks that boost tourism.

"The industry is entering a golden age of investment," said the report's lead analyst. "Operators who invest in high-quality, innovative attractions will capture disproportionate market share. The trend toward premium experiences means that ride quality and uniqueness matter more than ever."

The report also highlights the growing importance of safety standards, noting that 73% of new theme park projects now require international safety certifications, up from 45% five years ago. Manufacturers without multi-standard certification are increasingly excluded from major tenders.
